Stylistic Studies: Goodfellas

For the record, the second film we watched in stylistic studies was Scorcese's masterwork Goodfellas. I've now tried four or five times to start writing about it and I just can't seem to find anything worthwhile to say about this most worthwhile of films...

I haven't seen Goodfellas since it was in the theaters 12 or 13 years ago. Things I remember about it:
* Joe Pesci's "Whaddya mean, I'm funny?" rant. Probably made his career off a couple minutes of film.
* The scene in prison where they're making pasta sauce, slicing the garlic with razor blades so that it's sliced really thin. I don't know why I remember that after all these years. Just a wierd detail about the characters that stuck with me.
